Wow, and I thought Christmas was busy!
The aftermath of Christmas seems to be busier than the holiday itself! I've been busy enough with returning defective presents and cleaning up after Christmas, that I've neglected my blog. Ironic, isn't it? However, We had some interesting developments at Airway last Friday night.
I did pretty well with a 320 series (110/110/100), bowling a team that has an anchor I just don't like. This fellow is a grade a, USDA prime ass...kicking ball returns when shots go bad and punching the walls when he thinks he got robbed. In fact, last time we bowled each other, he "accidentally" dropped two balls in my lane as I was setting up shots. He even likes to stare at my future wife's chest when he thinks I'm not looking. All in all, he's a real charmer who drives most of us up a wall.
He gets fired up when he bowls me as we're in the same class and I have top average, so I really try to bear down a bowl well. And Friday, I beat him by 12 pins. That just pissed him off. His shots weren't going, he couldn't string marks together and he was letting his frustration show for all to see.
During the 3rd game he committed a foul that I caught (he hit a pin in the gutter prior to knocking down the 10 pin) and I called him on it...seeing as how he runs some pretty loose smack all night long (some gems include, "you're not getting any spares tonight, I'm getting all of them." and the ever popular "you're going to suck tonight and I'm going to kill you.")
My "friend" hit the ceiling--screamed, cursed and yelled for 20-30 minutes, embarrassing himself in front of my son. So, I let him get it out of his system and then let him have it. I told him to grow a sack, stop leering at my future wife and shut the hell up. Then I informed him...loudly..that the other 7 bowlers on the lane saw him hit the pin, so deal with it. He bitched up a storm, threatened me, etc. I told him he was embarrassing himself in front of my son, to go home, have a few pops an enjoy the holiday. He claims he's quitting the league...man, I hope so. It was a pretty ugly scene.
That was my first taste of being a "captain." While I'm not happy with the way it went, I'm happy we stuck it to this guy. He thinks that just because he's deaf, he gets anything he wants. Too bad for him that's not true. But there's one guy like this in every league, so we just try to deal with it the best we can.
I see Britney Spears finally appears to be acting like a new mom. The pop princess, who recently made headlines for a rash of less-than-motherly hard partying, fell asleep in a Las Vegas nightclub early Monday shortly after leading the New Year’s Eve countdown, her manager said. “By about one o’clock, she was just done, so we took her out,” Spears’ manager, Larry Rudolph, told The Associated Press Monday. “She was not drunk. She was just tired and falling asleep.” Yeah, right...tell me another story, Daddy. I haven't gone to sleep yet. Too funny.
Fabulous new pictures of Leo's Super Bowl in Amesbury are coming very soon. I had a wonderful chat with Mike Leo, owner of this fantastic house, who invited me out there (along with the rest of my fam, of course) to see the place. He's got an amazing house--one I'd die to call my home lanes, but he's far too lengthy a drive. Check out some of the cool features he's got...
- 24 Candlepin Lanes
- Gigantic Arcade Room
- 90 person Function Room with 2 42” Plasma TV (I wanna watch the Super Bowl there!)
- Super Cosmic Bowling and Moonlight Oldies, where you can bowl under Exotic Blue lighting in a very relaxed atmosphere
- Authentic Working Candlepin Bowling Machine on display (the kids can see what happens in the back)
The pictures make this place look amazing. I can’t wait to see it in person! Watch the Candlepin Gallery for the first set of pictures.
If you’re in Leominster this Saturday night, stop by Mason’s Bowling Center on North Main Street for the King of the Hill Tournament. I’ll be there as will several of the CG Forum members. It’s going to be a great time…don’t miss it!
