for weekend update, I'm Bruce McClure

That would be sort of fun, you know. Sitting in the weekend update chair on SNL, right next to Amy Poehler...not to mention the fact that she's not all that difficult to look at!

First off, I'd like to say Godspeed to my friend Terry Ryan. Mr. Ryan is the GM of the Minnesota Twins who announced he'd be stepping down at the end of the season. I'm sure it's been difficult for him this year, being savaged in the press and such. He's in the midst of a very long and illustrious career, and I can only wish him the best. Hopefully, he'll land on his feet very soon. Having said that, I'd like to officially start my campaign to have Jim Rantz elevated to the position of MN Twins GM. He'd be a perfect fit.

Kathleen, get me the owner of the Twins on the phone, stat!

The lanes kicked my butt pretty nicely in string one on Thursday...not one bit of luck. Oh well, it happens to the best of 'em, I know. But what I found to be really nice about my opposition last week was just how encouraging they were. Half of the team is comprised by a husband and wife who had no problem praising teammates and opponents alike, as well as lamenting bad luck. It wasn't a blood thirsty night like some nights can be. We talked, laughed, joked with one of their teammates about his 70 half in his first string (with yours truly starting the "steroids" chant to huge sounds of laughter from the lanes around us) and had a heckuva time. So, while a 303 wasn't quite what I was looking for Thursday evening, I left knowing it was a great evening with great people. How can you beat that, anyway?

I'd like to take a moment to congratulate Danny J. on his new high triple, 457. He dropped a 175 second string, marking through the first half---with a triple strike. He also had a double in game one and went strike, spare, 10 in the final 3 of game 3, showing 160/175/122 as his individual totals. Wow. Danny, you can rest assured I'll be speaking to my son about that nickname he gave you; he won't be allowed to use that moniker any longer. I think "Slow Danny" is now off the table. However, the only question remains...will Danny be invading Woburn in a few weeks? Time...and the pins...will tell. Oh, and we'll be putting up a nice copy of the scoresheet from Dan's night very soon. Watch for it!

Janet Poch has finally finished the first round of interview questions for me. I'll be sorting those out and getting them formatted soon...she's a great lady, and I'm thrilled to finally get a chance to interview her.

Congratulations to Kevin and Chris on rolling out the new forum software. If you haven't seen it, the look and feel is absolutely 21st century, and an update well worth it. It's truly unfortunate that GoDaddy doesn't provide any type of updated forum software, but the CG Forum is really redundant anyway. This website is here to provide pictures and news, not chatter. After seeing what it takes to really run a forum correctly, and understanding just what it takes to get around some software (such as mine), I've really lost interest in it. You'll probably see that choice leaving the menu bar soon...or is that not soon enough? I'm torn.

Finally, watch out candlepin! I've finally got my new glasses. You know what that means...I'll actually be able to see the headpin standing up there when I miss it! HA!

Hope everyone has a fabulous weekend! Go to the Big E...should be fun!
