someone wanna explain what just happened here?

So, yeah...I've been away for awhile. It seems the life of a Catholic school teacher gets busier than that of a public school teacher. Meetings with Sisters and Fathers and principals, etc., take up a lot of time! Oh well, here I am...wondering what just happened to me.

As I type this, I'm nursing a really sore backside; this after having it get kicked pretty good by Funtime Lanes tonight. Let's just say I didn't crack 300...or 275...or 250. It was positively the most embarrassing night I've ever had on the lanes. My ball made bee-lines for the 10 pin all night. When I did get lucky and actually spared a box or two, my fill was a big fat one. I just can't figure it out. I average 109-110 on real wood lanes (this up from 104 last year on real wood lanes...in a different center, on slow pindecks), rolling a pretty true and straight ball. I can't hit the broad side of a barn on these synthetic lanes. And my sad performance gets me the golden opportunity to sit next week as low man is out. Not nice. I didn't join this league to sit off my own team, hopefully having the chance to sub for someone else (as my team captain suggested). And why would anyone want me to sub for them if I can't crack 250?

For the first time in my life, I'm actually considering going back on my word and quitting this league and center. I can't figure out what's going on in that place. Bowlers find it hilarious when opponents make poor shots; I can't get comfortable enough to get the ball in the center of the lane...to me, so far, this isn't fun.

Therefore, anyone got some advice for a wayward bowler who can't figure out what's wrong? I'm convinced it's not me, and I'm convinced that my average isn't a juiced average (if it were, I should be up around 120 or so...). Heck, Funtime Lanes is supposed to be one of the faster houses in the area, with the manager telling me I should be hitting 'em at around a 113 pace. Really, now? Do I get four balls per box in this place? I wish I did.
