thank you!

As the well-wishes pour in, I want to take the opportunity to say thank you. I'm getting a ton of email, congratulating me on the good news. And to put a backstory behind all of this, I'll fill you in on how I did it.

I'd been contemplating doing asking her for awhile now, but hadn't quite figured out when I was going to do it. However, since Kathleen has been hinting--strongly--for a ring, I'd moved up my timetable a couple of times. At first, I'd thought of proposing Thanksgiving Day, in front of the family. Then, I'd figured I'd be able to do it next Saturday when we travel down to NYC to see Rent.

But I settled on just putting the ring in her jewelry box and waiting to see if she noticed. Therefore, as I got home from work yesterday, I simply did that and waited. In fact, when she came home and changed her earrings, she never even noticed it was there. So, we set off for Ware and my usual bowling night (a hearty 303...whoopie! LOL) where we had the usual helluva time.

When we returned home, I decided to tell her how disappointed I was in the fact that she "didn't notice anything different" in the house, which had her wracking her brain in an effort to understand what I was talking about. She rifled through her dresser, trying to figure it out...when she got smart and opened her jewelry box.

After jumping backward about 6 feet, she realized what was happening. LOL It was quite a scene. We stayed up way too late, calling family and friends. But we made it through the day today (well, I did...I'm still waiting to see if she did...hee hee). And tonight we get to see our cousin and aunt, so that'll be a fun start to the weekend.

Nevertheless, thanks! We're happy, too!
