Memorial Day? already?
Wow, it's Memorial Day already? Are you kidding me? As I sit here, aimlessly banging away on the keys in a mediocre attempt at forming sentences, I marvel at the fact that I'm already wearing my shorts and t-shirts and thinking about complaining about the heat. Then again, that's what we New Englanders do...we complain about the weather, the Red Sox, our bowling woes, etc.
Unfortunately, I'm still required to play the game of, "let's dance around the specifics" as I've been advised by those who have been watching out for me to do so. This comes on the heels of an incident a couple of weeks ago as I was leaving school later in the evening. That person who threatened me awhile back came through on his/her promise, injuring my knee in an unprovoked attack. And to think, said whack job understood which knee was my slide knee, too! Well, okay...I'm sure this person didn't realize which knee was indeed my slide knee...but the jerk gave me a beautifully bruised thigh and knee as the result of the Harding-esque encounter. So, I had to take a week off from bowling to allow it to heal up. Thankfully, I'm back in the swing of it this week.
The countdown has begun here in my school and family...not much longer until the big day! We've been busily making our last plans while enjoying the country drives in the beautiful sunshine here in Eastern CT. Days like today make it much easier to get things done...one's mood is much more positive when the sunshine takes over, that's for sure. And combine the wedding plans with the planning for a new house, and we've got our plates rather full--if you ask me.
We had a great time meeting a group of friends at Foxwoods Casino last night. As you may or may not know, the new MGM Grand opened up recently, and to say it's a beautiful architectural specimen is an understatement. We had the pleasure of dining at one of the new restaurants, dancing and clubbing 'till the early hours and generally fulfilling the slogan, "Come. Play." I must recommend it to you if you're anywhere near Southern CT. Oh, and if you like shoes...take a look at the Bally store. I left a ton of money there last night! I do love shoes, you know.
Oh, and congrats Amy Dube!
Now go grill a steak, will ya? It's Memorial Day weekend, you know. But before you do it, thank a vet for the sacrifice he or she made so you can freely grill that steak. While I'm completely against war...specifically the one we're so stupidly tied up in (thanks President Bush, for that $4.07 gas), we all know it's not the soldiers fault. They're simply doing their jobs. So thank them for that...then eat up! See ya soon!
