I got a rock...

Remember that line from the old Charlie Brown Haloween special? Ol' Charlie Brown was going trick or treating and got nothing but rocks in his bag. Well, I sort of felt like that yesterday after I received my mail. Indulge me...allow me to explain.

Recently, I auctioned off a set of candlepin bowling balls on eBay and shipped them off in dutiful fashion. The auction listing was exactly the same as each of my prior listings, describing the set offered as honestly as possible. I even included two pictures of the set for potential customers. In fact, the buyer received his set in efficient fashion and I thought that was going to be the end of it...happy customer, thanks for the great deal.

Well, no. Said customer decided, after getting his set, that he no longer wanted them and emailed me some angry notes, demanding a refund, lying about the condition of the balls, making threats...general buyer's remorse. He then files a complaint filled with lies with PayPal, giving them a USPS tracking number that allegedly corresponds with his return package, which should have contained the set of candlepin balls. Well...here's what I got.

Yep, that's right. I got a box of rocks with a delivery confirmation notice. How about that? Needless to say, after viewing this picture, PayPal has denied our intrepid scam artist's claim. I guess this is a testament to the perils of doing business on eBay and PayPal.

It's funny, I haven't had the slightest bit of trouble with anyone until now. But this is outright crazy. I've never seen someone stoop to such low levels to scam someone. I wonder, does this guy expect that I'm going to take this lying down? Does he think I'm going to let him get away with this?

Tonight's the night to make some candlepins pay. Looking to build on last week's success, so say a little prayer for me!
