the more you know, the more you grow!

Yep, I've been absent for a few days. It's actually been a bit on the busy side here in the Land of Steady Habits. We'll be posting a few new interviews in the coming weeks...with the ladies of candlepin being highlighted! Watch for new interviews with Janet Poch, Kelly Stoyles and Nancy Vestal. And we hope to have a new center pictured very soon, too!

We've also improved the search engine at the bottom of the home page. Previously, it was supplied by MSN, and did not give accurate results. But the good folks at Google have helped me create a new search engine that works perfectly, and provides the user with results formatted in the same way the website is done. Therefore, it's another welcome addition to the page.

I've been intrigued, since Tuesday, at the number of people who actually read this blog. Seemingly, New Britain Rock Cats fans have found it. This has been evidenced to me by my GM's comments of Tuesday afternoon. Therefore, I'd like to say hello to all my friends from New Britain, as well as my GM (hello, John...I know you're reading! Hope you enjoy my musings!). What grabs me is that I don't mention this blog or my website at the ballpark. I keep baseball separate from candlepin, if only because many CT bowlers haven't really had the chance to experience it.

But knowing that Rock Cats fans have found the blog makes me wonder how many other EL friends have found it; which leads me again to wonder who my anonymous and foul mouthed reader is. I was fairly certain I'd figured it out until I was made aware of just how many read this blog. However, I'm still wondering if my pal is from the Fitchburg area. It's interesting to see that each post and/or email comes at a specific time of the day, further exposing my friend. Gosh, I feel like Sherlock Holmes!

Did anyone see the incident in Bridgeport with old friend Jose Offerman? The former Red Sox and Twins 2B decided it would be prudent to charge the mound with a baseball bat...in an independent league game...against a team for which he used to play. Geez, Jose...ya looked great being led out of the ballpark in cuffs. Why would you do that? Not the best way to cap off a mediocre career, that's for sure. Ugh.

I'm fairly pleased with the way I ended the summer league. I clocked in with a 108 average...a healthy 5 point boost from bowling on converted tenpin lanes. That encourages me for the fall! And geez, there's only 3 weeks until that league begins! Time sure flies...where did the summer go? Heck, as I write this, there's only 10 home games left for the Cats! Ouch. And each summer I wish the same thing...for more of it! But hey, each season has its advantages. Just think, it won't be long before we're talking about Halloween, Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years' Day! Oy vey.

Looks like I'll be invading Brian's Bowlaway on Sunday for the Odd Pin Tourney. It'll be a nice way to keep in shape for the fall. I'm hoping to see Steve Renaud there as I want to wish him luck with the television show this fall. I'm looking forward to it! Hey Steve, if you're reading this...I wanna put that show on down here in CT! What do I have to do to get the DVDs from ya?

Yet please...if you can...send the good vibes my way tomorrow. I'll be interviewing at a school in Windham, CT. It's a grade 4 position, and I'm very strong in that grade level. And I understand that another school district wants to talk to me, but I haven't called them back yet. So, I'm back in the game--so to speak. The Windham job would be idea; it's very local to me and makes the evening commute to Ware easy--so I'd really like that job! Then again, I'd really like any job in education about now.

And finally, as I bang away on this keyboard, I've been made aware of some news out of my previous district. It seems as though my former VP has finally had it up there, resigning this week, with less than 3 weeks to opening day. Something must have happened that, in his eyes, was very drastic. He's a stoic, old school type of person who is brilliant and about as principled as they come. I won't type his name here, but send some good karma his way...his initials are "RGW." I'm concerned for him...we didn't see eye to eye very frequently, but I have a healthy respect for him and his knowledge. He's a good man.

That's all for now...
