it's tough to blog when you're workin'
Geez, it's tough to blog when one has gainful employment.
So far, the gig in Wethersfield has gone quite well. It seems the district really values its substitutes. Usually, a district treats its subs as being slightly less important than the custodians. However, in this case I've had nothing but good experiences. Principals are genuinely glad to see me come in, and they're equally encouraging when it comes to questions about applying for positions left vacant by upcoming retirements. In fact, two principals have asked me to throw my hat into the proverbial ring for paraprofessional teaching positions, knowing full well I'd use the position as a stepping stone to a full, classroom and contract position for the fall. Heck, the superintendent of the district took time out of his day to greet and converse with me when I was in the central office last week! I thought that was impressive.
The weekend on the lanes wasn't so bad, either. I shot a 311 on Friday in Springfield and a 321 in Monson on Sunday. I'm pleased, after not having picked up a ball for two weeks (groin injuries hurt...bad...and for the record, the injury had nothing to do with bedroom olympics...although I could tell people that and it would sound so much better than, "I slipped in my parking lot.").
So, things have taken a turn for the positive...life is calm and pins fall when they're hit. Hopefully, this will keep rolling, and I'll be able to go into this summer knowing I'm in the classroom this fall. That'll make summer vacation and the Rock Cats season that much more enjoyable. Geez...the 2007 FanFest is right around the corner (March 3), so Spring isn't that far away. How time flies, eh? My son will be 9 years old on March 18! Wow!
Not much else...hopefully, the phone will ring today!
