when things go right, they really go right
Quite a night at good ol' Airway Lanes. Now, that's not to say it's my new favorite house...but it was quite a night.
For starters, I finally hit the double strike pool (for $150!!!). In string 3, I threw a double strike (along with a spare on each end of it) for four marks in a row. In fact, my 2nd spare (fourth mark) was very nearly a third strike; but the 8 pin teased me until it stood back up. Tonight also saw me establish a new high single with a 142. My opponent, who spent most of the game telling me how much I sucked, walked out after being beaten by 27 pins. Gee, Tommy, who sucks now? Oh, and we overtook 1st place in the last round. If we finish no lower than 2nd, we'll be in the final rolloff for the whole shootin' match.
So, a nice night. I like it when things go right for a change.
For the season, I should finish with an overall average of 104...which is not too shabby for someone who returned after many years (or so I've been told). Personally, I'm calling this season a big success...something I can build on over the summer for next year. With a contract job, maybe I can join WNECA? But for now, I'll search for a good summer league and do my best to stay in shape for the fall.
