Yet another rain out
Ugh, yet another rain out. This is getting old, really fast. Thankfully, last night was a great comeback win for us to sit on. Rashad Eldridge led off the bottom of the tenth inning with a triple and scored on a sac fly by Gil Velazquez as the Rock Cats topped Portland 5-4 in extra innings. It was the second walk-off win for the ‘Cats in three games. I just wish we could string 6 or 7 of these together (although I could stand winning, easily, in 9 innings).
So, we'll get into it tomorrow morning at 10:35 and try to knock 'em off again. You know, it's always funny when the Portland Sea Dogs come to town. The Sea Dogs are the Red Sox AA EL affiliate, so it's peculiar to root against them. Nevertheless, when they come to town, they're the enemy.
Funny thing about last night...guess who I ran into at the ballpark. John Holt! John is not only a commentator for the CN8 Candlepin Challenge, he's also a sports anchor for WFSB-3 in Hartford. I happened to see him stop in for some shots and was delighted to chat with him for a good 10 minutes. Like I always say, as the world gets bigger, it gets smaller. Nice to see ya, John! Don't be a stranger!
Monson Lanes closes May 6. It's a sad thing, as far as I'm concerned. I love that little house and would really like to continue bowling out of there next year. But it's become much too difficult for the owners to run two houses so close to each other, so this is the right time for it. Granted, I'll be driving up the street to Roll-A-Way for next season...bowling with the same great folks, but I hate to see a candlepin house go down.
Geez, no Friday league night this week. What am I going to do? Bowl. My future bride is off chaperoning a dance at her school, so I'm going to invade a house near you. If you see me, stop over and say hello!
