the unknown bowler

Recently, I've noticed the number of "unknown bowlers" increasing on the web.  For those who don't know, an unknown bowler is one who doesn't really have the guts to attach his/her identity to a needlessly derogatory post aimed at someone who does a lot of good in the candlepin bowling world.  This week, my pal Bart (as well as his son and wife) is the one the negativity is aimed at.

I rarely post on that other forum anymore.  Each time I do, the "unknown bowlers" tend to come out from their parents' basements to run their proverbial smack on me.  And like I said in a blog post yesterday, I don't have the time to worry about that baloney anymore.  Personally, I think these posters are envious of the seemingly endless list of accomplishments they see coming from those doing all this hard work to promote candlepin.  When the new and exciting stuff comes out, they "poo poo" it as being unnecessary or beneath them, only to secretly enjoy all that new and exciting stuff when nobody is looking.  Take CG for example.  I'm apparently an incredibly controversial figure to many people in the business, but the website averages about 13,500 unique hits per day.  That tells me that many of the "unknown bowlers" are enjoying it privately and bashing it (and me, and my friends) publicly.

Therefore, my request to those "unknown bowlers" is pretty simple.  Show your faces.  Bullies tend to be the ones who are always afraid of what others think.  Bullies tend to bully to cover up their own fears and insecurities.  And when bullies begin bullying on the internet, with the level of anonymity that the web brings, it confirms my theories.  If only the bullies were secure enough in themselves to actually debate a topic properly.  We might actually have a good dialogue on how to advance the game.

But since the bullies can't get around their insecurities to offer cognoscente suggestions, then maybe I should ask them to leave the new and exciting stuff to those who know how to do it...Bart and his family come to mind.  Then again, CG ain't hay now, is it?

In other news, The Rock Cats entered the bottom of the ninth today, down by two runs. Catcher Korey Feiner drew a walk to open the inning and was replaced by pinch runner Rashad Eldridge. Trevor Plouffe advanced Eldridge to third with a single to center field. Eldridge scored on a sac fly by Garrett Guzman. Buscher hit a double to right field to score Guzman and tie the game 8-8 before Allegra stepped up to the plate and delivered an RBI single to give complete the comeback.  Rock Cats win 9-8.  Nice.  Bring on Portland tomorrow...under the sunshine and 80F temps.  Nice.

Oh, and don't ask about my bowling tonight.  I was beyond horrible.  Let's just put that behind me and move on to next week.
