Well, that was profitable

Geez, what a profitable night.  After all the prizes were handed out, I walked out with $117.  I figured I'd walk out with $30 for high single in my class, and that would be it.  But the wad of cash in my pocket was pretty nice, that's for sure.

Interestingly, what I found last night was that my team really wants me to return to the league next season.  Apparently, someone's been reading my blog!  Honestly, I'm sort of wavering on my decision to leave Airway Lanes completely.  The well-wishes and congratulations I received last night were very much unexpected.  I was called, by the league president, rookie of the year.  I guess I didn't realize just how I was received this year; I thought I was perceived as a huge negative.  Last night showed me that wasn't true.  More to think about!

Another fact that came about from last night...Airway has unequivocally stated to all candlepin leagues that they will not be removing the 8 remaining candlepin lanes, period.  This actually came from a district manager that met with members of our league over the last week.  In fact, they've pledged to repair the pinsetters that are troublesome and to make sure the equipment operates better next year.  That's very nice.  I just hope they follow through with the commitment.

In other news, the Rock Cats beat Trenton last night, 2-1.  Korey Feiner reached first base to start the ninth inning and was replaced by pinch runner Rashad Eldridge. Brandon Roberts delivered a sac bunt to move Eldridge to second before Molina laced a single to left field to score Eldridge and hand the Rock Cats another walk-off win.  This is huge for the Rock Cats as it moves the team to 11-10 and cuts a game off the lead.  Not to mention the morale boost for the franchise.  We're hoping it carries over to a good roll for the team.

So, with the Rock Cats and Red Sox winning last night (even if the Sox beat my Twins), and my payday, I think it was a good evening.  Then again, I never mentioned the dinner, which was fantastic.  If you're in Springfield, try Salvatore's on Boston Road.  It's right next door to Applebee's...and it's very good.  The restaurant isn't a chain, which makes it much better as it doesn't have that fast food angle.  Granted, the chain restaurants can be good (we enjoy The 99 Restaurant and Red Robin), but the independent shops have extraordinary food when they're run right.

Game night tonight...let's go Rock Cats.  And Monson tomorrow night...let's hit the head pin!  Monson's last night.  I'll have pictures and such when I return home.
