could this be the beginning?
Well, I've finally been placed on the list for substitute teaching in my son's school district. And while that doesn't mean I've been called to teach (this is my first day eligible on the "sub finder"), I'm sort of employed again. I do have a job lined up for next Wednesday, so that's a good thing. I guess what I'm going to need to do is get lined up with a couple of towns.
In doing this, I've tried to target towns that will apparently have a need for teachers next year. By substituting in these districts, it will allow me to show off my incredibly stellar organization and disciplinary procedures. Further, it will also allow me to personally submit my credentials to principals, so they have them on hand if needed. One can hope this will increase my chances, but I don't know.
Further, I'm taking the PRAXIS exam on March 3. That exam is essentially the "state board" exam. Think Bar Exam for teachers. If I pass it, it allows me to obtain a full license to teach grades 7-12, which will open tons of doors.
However, the fact that I've pulled a groin muscle (no jokes) doesn't help matters much. I hurt...tons. I'm hoping that I can work this out over the weekend with plenty of rest, ice, etc.
But, I'm off...sub finder just called and I have a job. Later...
